What Else Can Physiotherapists Treat?

by Toronto Health | Posted: August 2, 2022

A common misconception in our profession is that we only treat sports related or musculoskeletal injuries sustained following a traumatic event.

This however is just one aspect of physiotherapy. Regardless of what some people believe, physiotherapy is also a great treatment option to help alleviate or manage a diverse range of conditions or presentations:

  • Neurological conditions including Strokes, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome
  • Cardiovascular conditions including those who have heart disease, or those at risk, to reduce the incidence of future cardiovascular episodes
  • Cardiopulmonary conditions including COPD, Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, or post Covid or Pneumonia recovery
  • Pediatric conditions including Torticollis (wry neck), postural foot conditions, fractures, or gross motor skill re-learning for developmental delay
  • Amputee rehabilitation.
